Capital One Credit Cards
Capital One · 3 cards we compare
Capital One’s pitch is simplicity: flat rates, no categories, no quarterly activation. Venture X earns 2x on everything and still costs less than nothing once you use the $300 travel credit and 10,000 anniversary miles. The catch arrived in February 2026, when lounge access was cut for authorized users and guests — a real hit for families, and barely noticeable for solo travelers.

Lounge guest access tightened
As of February 1, 2026, Venture X cardholders no longer bring guests into Priority Pass or Capital One lounges for free — it is now $45 per adult at a Capital One Lounge (free once you spend $75,000 a year), and authorized users cost $125 a year for lounge access. On the upside, the card added a new Inspirato luxury-travel benefit.
Lounge access cut for authorized users and guests
As of Feb 1, 2026, authorized users lost complimentary lounge access ($125 each to restore it) and guests now cost $35 at Priority Pass and $25–$45 at Capital One Lounges. It’s a real downgrade for families — though solo travelers are largely unaffected.
The cheapest way into Capital One transfer partners
With Venture X now at $395, VentureOne is the only $0-fee route to Capital One’s transferable miles. Many cardholders keep it purely to hold a miles balance after downgrading a premium card.
$200 bonus + 15 months of 0% intro APR
Current offer: a one-time $200 cash bonus after $500 in spend in the first 3 months, plus 0% intro APR on purchases and balance transfers for 15 months.
The $300 credit + 10,000 miles still cover the fee
The $300 Capital One Travel credit and 10,000 anniversary miles (~$100) together are worth about $400 against a $395 annual fee — so the card still effectively pays for itself before you count a single mile earned.
Still the best flat-rate premium card
2x miles on everything with no caps remains the simplest earning structure of any premium travel card we compare.
Welcome offer holds at 20,000 miles
20,000 miles after just $500 of spending in 3 months — the lowest bar of any travel card in our comparison.
Consider Quicksilver instead if you don’t transfer
If you plan to cash out rather than transfer to airlines, the Capital One Quicksilver’s flat 1.5% beats VentureOne’s 1.25x — same issuer, same $0 fee.
5% back on Capital One Travel & Entertainment
Quicksilver earns an elevated 5% cash back on hotels, vacation rentals and rental cars booked through Capital One Travel, and on Capital One Entertainment purchases — on top of the flat 1.5% everywhere else.
Capital One completes Discover acquisition
Capital One closed its purchase of Discover in May 2025, adding the Discover and PULSE payment networks. No changes to Quicksilver’s rewards — we’ll note anything here.
