Frequently Asked Questions
Everything you want to know about how MyCreditPerks works โ and why you can trust what it tells you.
๐งฎ About the Calculator
How the tool works
Is MyCreditPerks free to use?
Yes, completely. There’s no sign-up, no subscription, and no cost to use the calculator. Ever.
Do I need to create an account?
No. The calculator works entirely in your browser. You don’t need to log in, register, or provide any personal information to get your results.
How accurate are the results?
Results are as accurate as the spending data you enter and our card data. We source earn rates, annual fees, welcome bonuses, and benefit values directly from card issuers and update them regularly. That said, card terms change โ always verify directly with the issuer before applying.
Why does the calculator show annual figures?
Annual figures give you the clearest picture of a card’s real value. Monthly rewards can look small in isolation โ seeing the full year makes it easier to compare the difference between cards.
What if I don’t know my exact spending amounts?
Estimates work great. Use round numbers โ your results will still show you clearly which cards are worth considering. Not sure where to find your spending totals? Click the “Where do I find my spending numbers?” link below the spending inputs and we’ll walk you through it for any major bank.
๐ Card Rankings
How cards are ranked
How does MyCreditPerks rank cards?
Every card is ranked by its estimated net annual value based on your spending:
The card with the highest net value for your inputs ranks first. No exceptions.
Does the ranking change based on my spending?
Yes โ that’s the whole point. A card that earns 4x on dining will rank much higher for someone who spends heavily at restaurants than for someone who rarely eats out. The ranking is personal to you.
What are “Always-On Perks” vs. perks I select?
Always-on perks are credits that apply automatically every year โ like the Chase Sapphire Reserve’s $300 travel credit or the Venture X’s anniversary miles. These are included automatically.
Optional perks โ like lounge access, DoorDash credits, or streaming subscriptions โ require active use. Check the ones you actually use in the “Services You Use” section.

How do you value points and miles?
We use widely accepted industry valuations:
These are conservative estimates. Points can be worth significantly more when transferred to airline or hotel partners.
- Chase Ultimate Rewards points: ~1.5ยข per point
- Amex Membership Rewards points: ~1.5ยข per point
- Capital One Miles: ~1.0ยข per mile
- Cash back cards: face value (1ยข per point)

What does “1:1 Transfer Partners” mean?
Some cards โ like the Chase Sapphire Reserve, Amex Platinum, and Capital One Venture X โ let you transfer points to airline and hotel programs at a 1:1 ratio. Transferred points can often be worth 2โ3x more than the base value we use in our calculator.
