Welcome-offer spend requirement jumps to $12,000

As of February 5, 2026, the minimum spend needed to earn the welcome bonus rose from $8,000 to $12,000 in the first 6 months. Offers remain targeted and go as high as 175,000 points.

January 2026

$895 annual fee now hitting existing cardholders

Anyone who opened the card before September 18, 2025 started paying the new $895 fee at their first renewal on or after January 2, 2026 — a $200 increase over the old $695.

September 2025

The biggest refresh in the card’s history

Amex raised the fee to $895 but doubled the hotel credit to $600 and added a $400 Resy dining credit, a $300 Digital Entertainment credit, a $300 Lululemon credit and a $200 Oura credit — pushing total advertised value past $3,500 a year.
