Best cards for Dining, 2026
Ranked by what they actually pay back on dining — real dollars from our rewards calculator, not opinions. Set your monthly dining spend, or filter to the cards that fit you.
How we picked the best dining cards
We started with every card we track that earns a bonus on restaurants, then ranked them by their effective return on dining — the card’s rewards rate multiplied by what those points are actually worth. That is the same math our rewards calculator runs, so the order here is driven by value, not by who pays us.
The American Express Gold Card leads because 4x points at restaurants, worth roughly 1.5 cents each, works out to about 6 cents back per dollar. If you would rather skip an annual fee, the Bilt Mastercard Blue earns 3x on dining for free.
Should I pay an annual fee for a dining card?
Only if your dining rewards clearly beat the fee. Use the slider above: if a fee card earns you more per year than a no-fee card even after the fee, it is worth it. Lighter spenders usually do best with a no-annual-fee pick.
Do these rewards apply to takeout and delivery?
Usually yes. Most issuers count restaurants, fast food, takeout and many delivery services as dining, though third-party delivery apps can code differently. Check each card’s terms for the exact definition.
