October 2026NEW

No more foreign transaction fee; cell phone protection ended

Effective September 20, 2026, the Freedom Flex dropped its 3% foreign transaction fee, making it a no-FX-fee card for travel. The same change discontinued the card cell phone protection benefit.

2026NEW

Don’t forget to activate this quarter

The 5% categories rotate every three months and require activation — Chase does not enroll you automatically. Set a calendar reminder, or the card quietly drops to 1%.

2026

Cell phone protection on a $0-fee card

Up to $800 per claim if you pay your phone bill with the card — a benefit most no-fee cards don’t offer at all.

2026

$200 bonus on only $500 of spend

Same easy welcome bonus as the Freedom Unlimited — $200 back after $500 in the first 3 months.
