7,500Anniversary bonus points
7,500 Rapid Rewards points deposited automatically every year after your cardholder anniversary — worth roughly $112 at 1.5¢ per point, covering about half the annual fee on its own. Nothing to activate; the points just post.
FreeFirst checked bag free
Your first checked bag flies free on Southwest — for you and everyone on the same reservation. With Southwest now charging for bags, this is one of the card’s most valuable everyday perks.
SeatsPreferred & Extra Legroom seating
Choose a Standard or Preferred seat at booking when available — for you and up to eight passengers on the same reservation. You also get unlimited free upgrades to Extra Legroom seats within 48 hours of departure when available, again for up to 8 travelers. Both benefits arrived with Southwest’s 2026 assigned-seating rollout.
Group 5Priority boarding
Board in Group 5, ahead of general boarding, so you get to the overhead bins first.
10,000Companion Pass qualifying boost
10,000 Companion Pass qualifying points every calendar year. The Companion Pass — which lets a designated companion fly with you for just taxes and fees — requires 135,000 qualifying points, so this covers about 7% of the way there before you spend a dollar.
25%Back on inflight purchases
25% back as a statement credit on inflight drinks and Wi-Fi purchased with the card.
1:1Chase points transfer in 1:1
Rapid Rewards points can’t be moved out to other programs — but if you hold a Sapphire or Ink card, Chase Ultimate Rewards® points transfer into Rapid Rewards 1:1, and those transferred points count toward the Companion Pass.

No foreign transaction fees. Rapid Rewards points don’t expire and there are no blackout dates on Southwest award seats.

Insurance and coverage that come built in — no enrollment required. Tap a row for details.

SecondaryAuto rental coverage
Secondary collision damage waiver on eligible rentals when you decline the rental company’s coverage and pay with the card.
