Choose a Standard or Preferred seat at booking when available — for you and up to eight passengers on the same reservation. 10,000 Companion Pass qualifying points every calendar year. The Companion Pass — which lets a designated companion fly with you for just taxes and fees — requires 135,000 qualifying points, so this covers about 7% of the way there before you spend a dollar.

25% back as a statement credit on inflight drinks and Wi-Fi purchased with the card.

1:1Chase points transfer in 1:1▾

Rapid Rewards points can’t be moved out to other programs — but if you hold a Sapphire or Ink card, Chase Ultimate Rewards® points transfer into Rapid Rewards 1:1, and those transferred points count toward the Companion Pass.

No foreign transaction fees. Rapid Rewards points don’t expire and there are no blackout dates on Southwest award seats.

Southwest’s limited-time 90,000-point welcome offer expired July 2, 2026. The card is back to its standard 60,000 points after $2,000 in the first 3 months.

Annual fee jumps to $229 — but earning improves

Chase raised the Priority card’s annual fee from $149 to $229 (existing cardholders see it on their 2026 anniversary). In exchange, Southwest purchases now earn 4x (up from 3x) and restaurants and gas stations earn 2x with no annual cap.

Seat selection perks arrive with assigned seating

With Southwest moving to assigned seats, the card now includes Standard or Preferred seat selection at booking and unlimited Extra Legroom upgrades within 48 hours of departure — for the cardholder plus up to eight passengers on the same reservation.
